Big disaster of 311 earthquake and Fukushima power plant accident have brought serious damage to environment. Relationships between toxic elements and minerals are fundamental and researches for them are very important for mineralogists. In this session , research results will be reported and future works for the recovery of the environment will be discussed. |

Topic session "Water - Rock Interaction" involves multidisciplinary research for roles of "fluids" to the Earth Processes, related to metamorphic rocks, volcanic rocks, hydrothermal alteration, ore deposit, hydrothermal experiments, and transport phenomena of fluids. This topic session also includes geological application such as mineralogical study of radioactive decontamination, nuclear waste geological disposal and carbon dioxide capture and storage. |

S3:Fluids in igneous processes |
Outline |
Mass and heat transport
induces various types of igneous processes in the mantle and crust. In
this session we discuss the role of fluids in the igneous processes as
well as the physicochemical properties of the fluids. This session
covers a variety of geological phenomena in relation to high-temperature
fluids, including the generation and differentiation of a magma,
vesiculation and fluid transport in a magma, ore-formation and volcanic
eruptions. We welcome contributions based on analytical, experimental
and theoretical studies. |

This session focuses on mineral descriptions and analytical methods of earth and planetary materials. It is significantly important to understand the wide range of mineral sciences in the Earth’s interior, because dynamics in the Earth’s interior must be closely related to not only the evolution of the Earth but also the environment near the Earth’ surface. The aim of this session will be to discuss the full range of physical and chemical properties of minerals on the basis of experimental and computational approaches. Targeted materials are not only minerals but also their analogous, amorphous materials and melt. |
