Japan Association of Mineralogical Sciences (JAMS) is a scientific association with 957 members. Established in 2007 by merging the Mineralogical Society of Japan, founded in 1955, and the Japanese Association of Mineralogists, Petrologists, and Economic Geologists, established in 1928.
   JAMS is involved in an expansive field of science, encompassing mineral science, geochemistry, and petrology. In collaboration with the Japan Science Council, JAMS is the representative national society in the International Mineralogical Association (IMA). In addition, as an official member of the Japan Geoscience Union (JpGU). The JpGU is a union of 48 Earth science societies in Japan, and it holds international symposium in May. JAMS sponsors several international symposium at this meeting.
   We conduct several scientific sessions related to mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry at JAMS annual meeting in September.
    We also carry out international scientific exchange activities. We successfully came to an agreement for academic cooperation and exchange with the Mongolian Society of Economic Geologists( MSEG)in September 2011.
We have finally become a part of Elements since February, 2012.
